Using AI to compare products without surrendering the decision
An AI assistant can organise specifications and generate questions, but a fluent comparison is not proof that its prices, availability or claims are current. Treat the output as a draft shopping worksheet.
Give it a narrow task
Specify your budget, required features and any firm constraints. Ask for a comparison table with a separate column for information that needs verification. Do not share card details, account passwords or private documents just to obtain a product suggestion.
Verify the decisive facts
Open the manufacturer's page for dimensions, compatibility and warranty details. Check the seller for the actual price and delivery estimate. If the assistant names a feature that does not appear in the official documentation, do not assume it exists. A model name differing by one character can refer to a different product.
Use it to test your reasoning
Ask what tradeoffs you might be missing, or which questions would distinguish two options. Then make the decision against your original needs. For example, a lighter device may matter more than a faster processor if you carry it daily. The goal is a clearer choice, not an automated purchase justified by a confident paragraph. Keep your final comparison linked to the pages you actually checked.
